1000 1st Swings Receives Donation in Honor of Carl Rydin
Woodridge, IL - Friends and family have made a generous donation to Village Greens of Woodridge in memory of Carl Rydin, an avid golfer who passed away unexpectedly last month. The donation will support junior golf initiatives, specifically the 1000 1st Swings Program.
1000 1st Swings is a program dedicated to introducing kids to the game of golf at no charge to the participants. Since 2010, almost 2000 kids have been introduced to the game for free.
“We can’t think of a better use of this donation than to introduce the next generation of golfers to the game that Carl was so passionate about,” said Brandon Evans, General Manager of Village Greens. He was such a strong advocate for junior golf and for Village Greens. We’re going to make sure his memory and commitment to the game of golf lives on.”
In addition, his loved ones also planted a tree on hole #17 in Carl’s honor via the Woodridge Park District’s Memorial Program. The tree will provide a living legacy of Carl, and will be enjoyed by golfers for many years to come.
