It's Ravinia, but in Woodridge. Join the Woodridge Rotary Club for "Jazz Off the Dock," an event of dinner, jazz and a raffle. The event will take place on Sunday, Oct. 3 on the dock and verandah the Seven Bridges Golf Club, weather permitting.
Seven Bridges will make available 1/2 priced bottles of wine and a cash bar at 5 p.m. Dinner will be served at 6 p.m. and the band will play at 6:30.
Brother John (John Kattke) and his Band will provide music for the event. The group is a Chicago-based jazz band. Brother John's Band regularly plays at Buddy Guy's Legends. John Kattke has played with Eric Clapton, Maceo Parker, Black Crowes, George Benson, Buddy Guy, Koko Taylor and Otis Rush. More about Brother John's Band can be found at www.brotherjohn.com
The event will raise money for the Woodridge Community Resource Center, part of the support services department of the Woodridge Police Department.
This is the Woodridge Rotary Club's first time having an event strictly to raise funds for one particular organization in the community. The Club chose to support the CRC because of its mission of providing quality programs and services to strengthen family values in a population of Woodridge that does not always have such opportunities. The CRC partners with many community organizations and agencies in their efforts to provide homework assistance, language and computer literacy, art appreciation classes, team building activities, violence prevention, and cultural diversity appreciation workshops.
Tickets are limited in number and will go on sale Sept. 10 for $65 per person. Checks or cash only. No tickets will be sold at the door.
