The Illinois Association of Park Districts and Illinois Park and Recreation Association recognized the Woodridge Park District as an Illinois Distinguished Accredited Agency. Woodridge Park District Board of Park Commissioners and staff will be officially recognized and presented with an award at the 2011 IAPD/IPRA Soaring to New Heights Conference on Friday, January 28th in Chicago.

"The District's Board of Park Commissioners and staff are very proud of this achievement," said Woodridge Park Board President Fred Hohnke. "The employees are to be congratulated for their dedication to the highest standards of the profession and commitment to the Woodridge community."

Distinguished Park and Recreation Accreditation is the culmination of a comprehensive evaluation that reviews adherence to best practices within the profession, and compliance to Illinois laws governing park district administration. Operational categories examined include general management, finance and business operations, facilities and parks, personnel, recreation services and legal administration. 
 
Woodridge Park District was first awarded "Distinguished Agency" status in 1993 and in 2010 became 1 of 13 of Illinois' 400 plus park districts to become a "Distinguished Accredited Agency".
