Construction to widen and resurface 75th St. starts next week, though drivers won't have to deal with lane closures or heavy construction just yet. 

The project will get off to a slow start, according to Kent Kuper, principal civil engineer for the DuPage County Division of Transportation. Crews will work to get temporary traffic signals in place starting Monday, with the widening of 75th Street from Lyman Avenue in Darien to Woodward Avenue in Woodridge to follow. 

With the addition of a third lane in either direction, crews will add a second left turn lane at the 75th Street and Lemont Road intersection and a right turn lane at 75th Street and Lyman Avenue. A bike path along the south side of 75th Street will be added, as well. 75th Street will be resurfaced from I-355 to Woodward Avenue. Storm sewer installation and traffic signal modernization are also part of the project.

The county will hold a public informational meeting about the project on Feb. 22 at the Village Greens Golf Course. Residents will be able to view an exhibit of the project and representatives from the county will be on hand to answer questions. 

To prepare for the construction, work began near Village Greens late last year to expand an existing retention pond and install a main line storm sewer and outfall pipe. 

The entire 75th St. project is scheduled to be complete by the end of the year.
