Best Local Sledding Spots
We'll add more to this list as readers suggest them.
Where are the best places around Woodridge to go sledding?
Here are my picks. Add your own in the comments and I'll add them here!
1. Ebersold Park, 59th and Main Streets, Downers Grove
This was my family's park of choice growing up. Why? Not only is it long enough (from top to bottom) to give you a good distance to glide down—it's wide enough that you don't have to fight with other families for space. Just stake out your spot.
Watch out for the plants at the bottom of the hill. They provide a nice landing space but you can get jabbed if you're not careful.
2. O'Brien Park, 6909 S. Dunham Rd., Downers Grove
I've never tried this hill, which is near Downers Grove South, but I'll seen plenty of other kids sledding there. It's not as large as the hill at Ebersold but might be more steep.

3. From Ray Kramer: Mt Vesouvio's at Janes and 83rd.
4. Christine Watzke There's a place in Bolingbrook by Rocket Ice Arena that's a lot of fun.
(Rocket Ice Arena is located at 180 Canterbury Ln. in Bolingbrook.)
5. Delaware Circle
Located on the north side of Delaware Drive in Bolingbrook, has a great sledding hill at the end of the subdivision. This was one of my favorite spots growing up because of the steep angle of the hill.
6. The large hill behind Bolingbrook Village Hall
I would recommend using the east side of the hill though because sliding down the west may leave you headed straight for a pond. But if you have ice skates on, it may make for a cool YouTube video!
7. Meyer Park in Bolingbrook
Just east of Bolingbrook's village hall, on Briarcliff Road is, there is a steep hill near a maintenance building that I have seen children sledding on. But make sure to be cautious of the parking lot and the street that border it.
8. Naperville Park District
Weigand Riverfront Park on South Washington Street and Springbrook Crossings Park on Plainfield Naperville Road.

Nice list. You can also check out http://tobogganhills.com/ for a map of local hills, and add the above hills if they're not already located on the map, for others to locate and enjoy. Many sleds will thank you! :)
