Elderly Disabled Resident Robbed; Police Investigating

An elderly resident with a disability was robbed at her Woodridge home on Monday.

Woodridge police are investigating the robbery of a resident earlier this week.

According to police, an unknown person or people entered the home of an elderly resident with a disability at about 1 p.m. Monday, Jan. 28.

Administrative assistant Pam Ward said the resident allowed a male into the home. At this time there was no description of the man.

The home, in the 9000 block of Lancaster Lane, was ransacked. Numerous items were stolen, including cash and jewelry.

Police said no weapons were used and no one injured, but reminded residents to secure their home and car, and not to allow unknown people inside their homes.

The Woodridge P.D. has done a terrible job of informing the residents in this area of this crime and of similar crimes that have happened recently in the same sub-division….in fact when the Police dept. was called about this yesterday they denied that this incident even happened.

I fully agree with Dan. Woodridge PD needs to communicate with residents and let them know when these things occur. Back in 2007 I was home with a newborn and got a recorded call that there had been some concerning issues in the neighborhood - I investigated and found out that like 10+ homes had been robbed right in my backyard and they had no suspects! That is unacceptable. They are here to serve and protect, not cover things up and act like things are fine when they are not.

So you'd rather they waste time making hundreds of phone calls instead of investigating the crime? That seems selfish. If you were the actual victim I think you'd much rather they spend their time doing police work instead of coddling people who aren't even the victim of anything.
