Editor's note: The following information and photos were provided by Jeff Gaspar.

Almost 200 pounds of donations were collected in Meadowview Elementary School's toy drive.

Girl Scout Troop 064 hosted the drive, which collected toys, books and art supplies. The donations will go to the University of Chicago's Comer Children's Hospital.

The toy drive was the idea of one Meadowview student and a member of Troop 064 who spent some time at Comer's. She wanted to hold a toy drive to assist long-term patients at Comer's who are not able to return home for Christmas and whose families may not have money for presents after long-term illnesses of their children.
