Police: Masked Man Steals Car in Kohl's Parking Lot at Gunpoint
A suspect is in custody though formal charges are still pending.
A car was stolen at gunpoint around 10 p.m. Wednesday night in the parking lot near Kohl's, 1001 75th St., according to Woodridge police.
A man wearing a Halloween mask pointed a handgun at a woman seated inside a 2000 Pontiac Grand Am, according to a release. He ordered her out of the car at gunpoint, got in the car and drove away, police said.
A witness to the robbery followed the stolen car and informed police of its whereabouts, according to reports.
Police said they stopped the car near the Centerpointe Mall along Woodward Avenue and arrested a 31-year-old man from Coal City, who was still wearing the Halloween mask and had a loaded .45 caliber handgun in his possession.
The suspect remains in custody but formal charges are still pending by the DuPage County State's Attorney's Office, according to police.

Why make him beg? Just pull the trigger and be done with it. Drop his body in the garbage dump where it belongs.

Can the police at least give a description of the perp if they arent going to charge him just yet? Why the holdup on pressing charges?

Felony charges would have to be approved by the State's Attorney's office before the cops can charge them. I've heard that the police are having a hard time getting charges approved on even cut-and-dry cases because of some political game-playing that started the day (no exaggeration) Birkett entered office to make his conviction rates look better. As a result people are getting charged with BS misdemeanors allowing scum to be back on the street almost immediately after charging. I hope they don't make the cops jump through hoops to get this guy where he belongs - a small jail cell with a large cellmate with no respect for personal space and poor hygiene.

You have a link to an article with this info? I can't give much credit to someone with a poor grasp of simple concepts like proper spelling, commas, periods, etc....

All I'm asking for is a link to an article with someone who works for the PD or the jail quoted saying that he's been released. Preferably someone who can put together a sentence that I don't have to re-read multiple times to understand what they're saying. Aren't you the sensitive one....

Just so everyone knows, there hasn't been any other official information released besides what is posted here. Whatever I hear from the DuPage County State's Attorney's Office will be posted.

People are just insensitive. This was an awful thing that happened. People need to put themselves in the victims place and understand how they are feeling, and their family. Don't let it bother you. They're just ignorant.

I just read the article in the Daily Herald. He did it for the thrill? Unbelievable, there are a hundred things he could have done instead, skydiving, bungee jumping, hang gliding. Instead he chose to scare some poor woman half to death. I certainly hope he gets fired from the nuke plant. Someone with his characteristics should not be trusted to run a nuclear reactor. Suppose he wants another thrill and pulls a Chernobyl.

HEY, it's illegal to carry a gun outside your home in Illinois. Maybe they should have made the Kohl's parking lot a "gun free" zone!! Sarcasm !! Illinois is the ONLY state in the nation that does not allow, though the Constitution protects the right, law abiding people to carry a firearm for defensive purposes.
