The Blue Ginger Lounge – Upscale Japanese Cuisine in a Loft-Like Lounge

The second edition of our "The Local Dish" column.

Do you desire to get away to a trendy, loft-like restaurant, or crave the taste of exotic
cuisine for lunch or dinner? There is no need to venture to the city. Instead, enter your destination setting to the Blue Ginger Lounge located at Seven Bridges in Woodridge.

The Blue Ginger's menu is created by trained Japanese sushi chefs. Each entrée is
carefully prepared with the utmost attention to detail. Epicurean masters transform the blank canvas of each plate with culinary brushstrokes. Japanese food is considered an art, and you'll come to appreciate each entrée as such while admiring its placement, presentation and garnish.

Unlike the in-and-out pace of fast food restaurants, Japanese cuisine at the Blue Ginger is served at a leisurely pace. There is no rush in service (which may be interpreted as slow).

The dining experience is laid-back and casual – so get ready to slip into Japanese dining etiquette, sip, relax and savor each bite. Take time to enjoy a piping hot cup of green tea. Or, try the Sake-Tini or Blue Ginger (one of my favorites) martinis while unwinding from a long day at the office.

The surroundings at the Blue Ginger are contemporary, chic and urban. Dark red walls and ebony floors reiterate the lounge environment. But, if you desire a more intimate experience, request to be seated in one of the comfortable high-top upholstered booths. The booths offer some refuge from the restaurant's resonating sounds, allowing you to personally engage in the dining experience with guests. Outdoor seating during warmer months is offered; however, the parking lot view detracts from the lounge-like experience.

If you're a newbie to nagiri, sashimi or maki, don't shy away. The servers at the Blue
Ginger are more than happy to guide you through the extensive menu. I would suggest starting with their Signature Rolls:

Blue Ginger: This maki roll is filled with spicy tuna, cream cheese, avocado, crisp
asparagus and lightly battered tempura shrimp, then plated over a creamy wasabi and unagi sauce.

Urban Heat: Finely diced jalapeño pepper mingles with tuna, spicy mayonnaise, tempura crunch and unagi sauce kicking this maki roll up a notch.

If you still fear the uncooked aspect of fish, you'll be happy to know that the Blue Ginger offers Asian-inspired kitchen entrees such as a ginger-soy marinated sirloin steak, short ribs, marinated lemon grass chicken with teriyaki sauce, pan-fried sea bass, salmon and even lobster. Or, try the U-don noodles.

The entrees range from $14 to $22.50. But an assortment of items offered on the lunch menu include sushi, bento box lunches or u-don noodles range in price between $8 and $13. Take advantage of daily promotions like $5 martinis on Wednesdays. And, if you're looking to enjoy an experience at the Blue Ginger Lounge at a discounted rate, then visit www.restaurant.com.

The Blue Ginger Lounge welcomes you with its flashing neon light. You'll keep
returning due to its fabulous food, loft-like urban atmosphere and ease of suburban parking.

Average Price Range for Entrées: $ 14.00 - $ 22.50 $$$$
