Why Mike Krucek?

Why Mike?

This election will be the first time in a long time that Woodridge residents will get to choose who will lead the Village forward. It is about vision, ideas and most importantly leadership. I believe I am the only candidate that brings the necessary skills and vision to the position along with the ability to provide the necessary leadership.

This election is not about how many organizations one volunteers for or how nice a person may be. While I think I compare very favorably on those counts it takes more than that to be a successful leader.

Every organization I have been a part of has ended up better because of my involvement. Why? Because I do more than just join. I work to make sure I leave the organization or group better than we started. I end up leading. And not just in name. Take a look at my endorsements on my web site and see what other leaders say about me.

When I become involved in anything I bring new ideas and an ability to see things from different perspectives. I bring an ability to work together with differing points of view to reach consensus. I am able to incorporate other groups, organizations and individuals in ways that may not be immediately apparent to accomplish goals. I lead, and I do it from the front. I listen to the people I’m working with, look at all the information available and make a decision. Then I move forward to implement it. Perhaps most importantly I get things done.

I don’t want to sound like I do all of this on my own. A lot of work by others is required to accomplish goals and move the community forward. I’ve been fortunate to receive the help of many people as we have worked to make Woodridge a better place to call home. Working together is more than just a campaign slogan to me. It’s what I’ve always done. I have an ability to show people where we need to go and then help get there.

Moving Forward

I want Woodridge to remain a strong and vibrant community, one that is always a great place to live, work and play in. I want it to be a place to raise your family, like I am doing. I want it to be a place where you will want to stay AFTER you’ve raised your family. I want it to be a place that the family you raised feels so strongly about Woodridge they want to raise THEIR family here. And I want it to be a place that, should you move on, you will be proud to say that you are from Woodridge. That’s why I’m running for Mayor.

Why vote for me?

I have led organizations

I am viewed as a leader by other leaders

I can make decisions and take responsibility for them

I come to the position with fresh ideas to improve Woodridge and the ability to implement them

I am able to listen, bring together differing points of view, and act.

I’ll always make decisions in the best interest of Woodridge.

I look forward to serving as your Mayor.

Hi Adrian, thanks for the question. While I would prefer to look forward it is fair to know where I stand. My initial answer would be that it depends on which issue or issues you may be talking about. So if you have something specific please let me know. But I can give you my general view. I think on balance Mayor Murphy has done a good job in getting Woodridge to where we are today. I think in some cases I agree with his end result but I disagree in how the situation was handled.

Two times where I have found myself in total disagreement would include the smoking ban of several years ago and more recently the press release on Village Greens. At one point the Village was looking to pass an ordinance to ban smoking with the Village limits. Unfortunately our neighboring communities were not all looking to do the same thing. This would have caused problems for our establishments had their patrons not been able to smoke in Woodridge and would have resulted in lost revenues to both those establishments and the Village. As the Chairman of the Chamber at the time we spoke out against this ordinance.

The rest of my comments will follow.

When the Village came out with a press release very recently wanting to hire a consultant to look at alternatives for the Village Green Golf Course I couldn't understand why. It seemed premature to spend tax dollars on a consultant before talking to the Park District which had been successfully managing the course for many years. I also found it odd that no one on the board questioned the move until a concerned group of citizens spoke up. Even then some members preferred to ignore questions. That's not how an elected body should act.

I can tell you that as Mayor I will try to get feedback BEFORE I've decided on a course of action. I want to know what people think. It can do nothing but make the Village better. I can't promise you that I'll agree with every view someone has. That's not possible. But I can tell you that I'll listen and take everyone's comments into account when making decisions.

Have a great holiday and don't hesitate to contact me with additional questions.

Thanks Mike. I appreciate your prompt response and I completely agree with you on Mayor Murphy's decision to hire consultant to look at alternatives for the Village Green Golf Course using tax dollars was completely wrong and shows it was kind of biased decision. Many of us has experienced same kind of decision making process in few other cases.

Anyway, I will make sure I convey your message to as many neighbors and family friends as possible who can help us to elect mayor like you who is for PEOPLE OF WOODRIDGE. Not for personal/political interest.

One more Question if you don’t mind.

How will you attract more businesses to Village of Woodridge? i.e. Empty space by Woodward and 87th street. Even though Bolingbrook side of lot was uneven and had lots of other issue still Village Of Bolingbrook were able to find tenant like Costco and McDonald. However, for Woodridge side of open lot we can’t find any tenant for years.

Thank you, I appreciate the kind words. As to bringing more business to the Village, there is no single answer. Just a lot of individual answers depending on the location. Prior to moving to Woodridge I lived in Berwyn and spent 9 years on the Berwyn Development Corporation Board. It was there that I learned attracting business is hard work, especially when you don't have a lot of land to attract major developers. It requires looking at each area you want to fill and doing what it takes to satisfy the business, the residents and the Village. It requires creativity and a willingness to cooperate and compromise. It requires understanding the changes going on in retail. And it helps if you think not about how things should be but how they could be. I'll have more to say about business development as the campaign moves forward. Lastly, there is a project moving forward at 87th and Woodward.

Thanks again, Mike

Mike, I am very happy to have met with you and learned how concerned you are with the future of Woodridge. I agree, Mayor Bill Murphy has sucessfully led the Village of Woodridge for the last 30 years. I hope that you can be our village's next mayor and a leader who listens to the residents. As a resident of the Village of Woodridge since 1978, I wish you the best for your election and the New Year. You definitely have my support for mayor.

I woud like to congratulate the Mayor on his retirement and wish him well. As a former member of the planning I commission I believe the Mayor has done a fine job developing or community. It is going to take quite a bit to replace the Mayor but believe I believe Mike has the qualities to get the job done. Good luck to you both with you new endeavers.
