More About St. Scholastica School
St. Scholastica is a K-8 Catholic school opened in 1962 with the Benedictine Sisters of Sacred Heart Monastery in Joliet as teachers. In its initial state, the school enrolled three grades in two homes at the corner of Janes and Crabtree Avenues. The current school was completed in 1964 and additional grades were introduced. Today, the school has 12 classrooms, a music room, art room, library, computer center, gym, activity center, faculty lounge and offices. A breezeway separates the school from the church.
St. Scholastica is the only Catholic school in Woodridge. The school's extracurricular activities include Spanish, drawing and choir. The school's athletic teams include basketball, volleyball, cross country and track. The school also offers an Extended Care Program from 6:30 a.m. to 6 p.m. on school days.
Its mission statement: "St. Scholastica Parish School is a Catholic educational community that strives to prepare students for their future academic endeavors and life experiences. We provide an environment which encompasses a quality academic curriculum, mutual respect, intellectual curiosity, and service to others." Gail A. Kueper is the principal.
