Entries for 'Darien Idol,' 'Battle of the Bands' Accepted Through July 31

Contestants for “Darien Idol” and “Darien Battle of the Bands” have until July 31 to reserve a spot in the upcoming Darien Fest.

Idol contestants and bands will perform before a live audience during Darien Fest, which takes place Sept. 5-7. The community festival is sponsored by the Darien Chamber of Commerce.

Darien Idol contestants are being separated into two age groups for singers ages 12-15 and ages 16-19. The registration fee is $10. Registrations are due at the Darien Chamber by July 31. Contestants can also register online.

Idol entries should include a description and song recording, an autobiography, photo, email address and contact phone number. Qualified entries will be notified via email on August 15.

Contestants can email their entry descriptions including MPS or a link to a YouTube video recording to info@darienchamber.com, or drop off their entry and recorded CD at Darien Chamber of Commerce located at 1702 Plainfield Road in Darien.

The Darien Idol competition will start at 12:30 p.m. Sunday, Sept. 7, on the Darien Fest Main Stage at Darien Community Park, located at Clarendon Hills and Plainfield Roads.

Battle of the Bands

The fest will also feature the “Darien Battle of the Bands.” The competition is geared toward band participants between the ages of 12-28 with three to eight band members. The registration fee for bands is $25.

Battle of the Band contestants can also register online at the Darien Chamber website.

Entry descriptions should include two original song recordings less than eight minutes for each song, band biography, photo, main contact email address and main contact phone number.

Email your entry description to info@darienchamber.com or drop off your entry at Darien Chamber of Commerce located at 1702 Plainfield Road in Darien.

Each band will be judged on stage presence and preparedness, vocal ability, musicianship, and entertainment.

The Battle of the Bands starts on the Darien Fest Main Stage beginning at 3 p.m. Sunday, Sept. 7, at Darien Community Park.

Entries for both contests will not be accepted after July 31.
