Park District Golf Manager: Come to Village Greens!

Fresh off a mention in the national Golf Digest magazine, Village Greens is reminding residents to make use of Woodridge's public course.

The golf manager/head golf professional of the Woodridge Park District is extolling residents to give golf at Village Greens of Woodridge a chance, whether it's getting the kids involved or putting together a team for the Labor Day scramble, in a column published by the Suburban Life.

"If you're searching for a last-minute "bucket list" activity for the kids before summer comes to a close, the 1,000 1st Swings program at Village Greens is a perfect family activity," Brandon Evans writes in the colum. "We provide golf clubs to borrow and complimentary range balls to provide kids an introduction to the game of golf. It's a stress-free atmosphere, available at any time, and absolutely free to participate.

"Regardless of your experience, age, or ability level, the staff at Village Greens of Woodridge can assist you and your family in learning and enjoying the game of golf... So spend some quality time with friends and family, enjoy a day at the golf course, and most of all, 'Live for Fun' this summer at the Woodridge Park District."

Village Greens and Evans were also mentioned in the August 2013 edition of Golf Digest magazine, which spotlighted the course's $9.99 nine-hole special that the Park District has been offering since 2009. An article in the magazine says that 10 percent of Village Greens' rounds are nine-hole, and the program has brought the course an extra $40,000 in revenue.

(A side note: The poster of this article is an avid golfer and very much enjoyed playing Village Greens earlier in July. The morning specials are excellent for golfing on a budget.)
