Jaycees Fundraiser Saturday Provides “Something For Everyone”

The Woodridge Jaycees' "Something for Everyone" event will take place Saturday from 10:30 a.m. to 3 p.m. at the Park District Community Center.

The Woodridge Jaycees wanted to mix several events into one large fundraiser.

That's why you'll see child identification cards, a blood drive, pet adoption and a car wash at the Jaycees "Something for Everyone" event this Saturday from 10:30 to 3 p.m. at the Park District Community Center.

“We’ve done car washes and blood drives before, but never together in one big event,” said Debbi White, management vice president of the Jaycees.  “We wanted to bring several opportunities together to make it a family event, with literally something for everyone.”

The Illinois Child Identification Program, sponsored by the Illinois Masons, gives parents the means necessary to help police find missing children.

Parents will go home with a photo ID, fingerprints, DNA sample and voice recognition CD of their child free of charge. What takes just a few minutes of your time may help the police recover your child if they ever go missing.

The Jimmy Buffet-themed blood drive will be run by Heartland Blood Centers. All blood donors will receive a coupon for free Oberweis ice cream, a Jimmy Buffet T-shirt, cheeseburgers and a raffle ticket for concert tickets. Twenty-five appointments have been made, but there is room for nearly 70 more. Walk-ins are welcome but appointments are preferred. Call Debbi at 630-674-8768 to make an appointment.

Magnificent Mutts Rescue will be at the event with several animals looking for a family to adopt them and call their own. Magnificent Mutts has placed more than 500 abandoned, abused or neglected animals into loving homes over the past 10 years.

“We hope we can show people there are plenty of great animals to be rescued for minimal cost,” White said.  “You don’t have to spend a lot of money to get a life-long companion.”

And finally, bring your dirty cars, old or new, to the charity car wash run by the Woodridge Jaycees. The car wash is free, but you can give a donation.
