Whether you're looking for date night, productive or family time activities, Patch has found a plethora of events happening right in your own backyard.

Why Go: Grab the kids and stock up on books for summer reading. With these prices, giving your kids everything they ask for is easy! Great opportunity to start a family summer reading challenge.

 Pricing: $1 for hardcovers, 50 cents for paper backs; buy a friend’s bag for a buck (last year’s can be used too) and fill it up for only $2 on Sunday

 3)Bowling With Friends to Support Little Friends  

Where/When: Suburbanite Bowl, Westmont, Saturday, 9:30 p.m. – 12:30 a.m.

Why Go: Little Friends supports children and adults with developmental disabilities such as autism. Do a good deed, pick up some great silent auction items, and enjoy an evening of bowling, food, cocktails and fun.

Pricing: $25 per person includes one pizza per lane, chips, shoes and unlimited bowling. Cash bar available.

Why Go: The whole family will enjoy this Cajun, Creole, Zydeco, Swamp Mix band. Afterward, why not get the whole family involved in making a Louisiana low country dinner together? This show is part of the Big Read Program and Chan Concert Series.

Pricing: Free, but y’all are asked to register in advance.

5) DG Education Foundation Presents Second City

Where/When: The Tivoli Theatre, Friday, 8 p.m.

Why Go: Support District 58’s Education Foundation and have a few yuks, laughs and chortles while watching the acclaimed production of Second City’s Fair and Unbalanced. They’ll poke fun at everyone—politicians, celebrities (wonder if Charlie Sheen's name will pop up?), perhaps even your family members. Laughter is the best medicine for what ails you, and it’s a great date night.

Pricing: $30 general seating, $75 preferred seating and $100 VIP seating.
