Woodridge Stuntman Bob Beck Dishes on Hollywood Action

The actor and stuntman worked alongside Heath Ledger in "The Dark Knight" and has also been in "The Dilemma," "Contagion" and "Fred Claus."

Check out the YouTube video to the right. That’s Woodridge’s Bob Beck, a pro stuntman doing an epic 20-second (stage) fight against fellow stuntman Keith Min. (Spoiler alert: Bob wins.)

In a recent interview with Yahoo!, Beck discusses his movie career working with Christopher Nolan (in The Dark Knight) and Steven Soderberg (in Contagion), and dishes on the positives and negatives of working in film. (Plus: screen immortality; minus: inconsistent work.)

He also offers some advice for newcomers to Chicago’s entertainment industry.

"Have patience,” he told Yahoo!. “Just because you have been doing extra work for five minutes doesn't mean you should be a star the next time you work. Deal with rejection and learn from it. You can't work on everything. Be a professional on set. It's a job. Don't give up. You never know when your time will come, so always be ready.
