Allstate Closing Woodridge Call Center

The center was built in 2000 and at the time was touted as bringing the Village 700 jobs; Allstate has issued a statement.

The insurance company Allstate plans to close a call center in Woodridge this August, costing the Village hundreds of jobs, with employees receiving severance packages, ABC7 is reporting.

"Allstate regularly reviews the way we do business to ensure that we are operating as effectively and efficiently as possible while maintaining outstanding levels of customer and agency support," Allstate told ABC7 in a statement.

"Recent changes have resulted in lower call volumes to our call centers, so the difficult decision was made to close the Woodridge Call Center effective August 11, 2013."

The center was built in Woodridge in 2000 and received tax credits from the State of Illinois. At the time, it was touted as bringing the Village 700 new jobs.
