Almost 200 Job-Seekers Fill Out Applications at Woodridge's Two McDonald's Locations Tuesday

April 19 was National Hiring Day for McDonald's, which is looking to hire 50,000 new employees.

It was National Hiring Day for McDonald's Tuesday. 

Woodridge's two McDonald's locations -- at 2310 75th Street and 2401 63rd Street, saw a combined total of almost 200 job-seekers come in to apply for jobs. 

Travon Jones, store manager for the 75th Street location, said 80 from 100 people came in to apply for jobs between 8 a.m. and 5 p.m. Tuesday. Jones said people sometimes arrived in packs of 5 or more.

"At one time we had 20 people applying for jobs at the same time," he said. "We had to bring in other managers to interview them. We had to bring in reinforcements." 

The turnout was larger than he had expected.

"We had a great turnout," Jones said. "We didn't expect that many people." 

A store manager at the 63rd Street location who would not give his name said that 87 people applied at the location Tuesday. Turnout was pretty steady throughout the day, he said. 

The restaurant chain is looking to hire 50,000 new employees, according to its website.
