More Details on Art Van Furniture Coming to Woodridge

The store will create 60 new jobs in Woodridge and is scheduled to open in February.

The new Art Van Furniture store undergoing construction in Woodridge (at the corner of Boughton Road and Woodward Avenue) is slated to open in February 2014, the Chicago Tribune reports.

According to the paper, Art Van, based in Warren, Michigan and self-described as that state’s “no. 1 furniture retailer,” will be hiring 60 associates for the 68,000-foot Woodridge facility.

"The Woodridge-Bolingbrook trade area was identified as an area that we wanted a presence in… there are several big box retailers there and it is a regional draw,” Diane Charles, director of corporate communications for Art Van Furniture, told the paper. "It is a great village, great location, and there is availability of land."

"Art Van's investment in Woodridge demonstrates the recognition by retailers that Woodridge's location and lower sales tax are advantages in a competitive retail market," Woodridge Community Development Director Michael Mays told the paper. "Art Van will be a regional draw, helping to support existing Woodridge businesses in that area."
