POLL: Target Opens at Midnight Black Friday -- Will You Go?

More than 90,000 people have signed a petition asking Target to open later. Would you go at midnight to shop?

decision to open its doors at midnight on Thanksgiving has drawn plenty of attention this week.

As of Tuesday at 4 p.m., almost 91,000 people have signed a petition at Change.org asking Target not to open at midnight on Thanksgiving as planned. The petition asks that Target open instead at 5 a.m. Friday to allow workers to spend more time with their families.

Anthony Hardwick, an Omaha-based employee, started the petition.

"With the midnight opening, employees like myself will have to leave for work right in the middle of Thanksgiving Dinner," Hardwick said in a statement. "We don't mind hard work, but cutting into our holidays is a step too far."

Target employees have been asked to arrive at the store no later than 11 p.m. Thanksgiving Day to prepare for the midnight opening.

Target isn't the earliest to open its doors for the Black Friday rush. Wal-Mart for shoppers who just can't wait until the wee hours of the morning.

What do you think? Will you take advantage of stores opening earlier? Tell us in our poll or write a comment below.

I would rather go at midnight than have to get up in the middle of the night when I was warm and cozy in bed

As a fellow retail employee we also follow what other stores are doing to be competitive. I think it is sad that these retail stores are opening so early on Thanksgiving Day. We only get two days off a year Thanksgiving and Christmas we would also like to spend time with our families. I hope that my store does not follow in this trend. For the other retailers that are doing this, they need to wake up and realize family should be the most important thing.
