Woodridge and Lisle Businesses Meet at Expo for Networking, Exposure

Woodridge Chamber presidents says businesses starting to feel a little more optimistic

As almost 50 business from Lisle and Woodridge met Thursday for the Multi-Chamber Business Expo.

The event, sponsored by both the Lisle and Woodridge Chambers of Commerce, gives local business in the two villages the opportunity to network and advertise. It's the second time both chambers participated in the event.

Melinder said participation from businesses was up almost 20 percent from last year, while participation from the public remained consistent with previous years.

Perhaps more remarkable, though, was Melinder's observation that the confidence of businesses had risen, too.

"We're starting to see more optimism – cautious optimism," Melinder said.

Jen Kuikman, sales specialist at Brunswick Zone in Woodridge, said she participated just to get her business' name out in the community.

"We don't do a lot of public advertisements," she said. "I think with the economy, this (Expo) is very needful."

Amy Melinder president of the Woodridge Chamber of Commerce, said the partnership between the two chambers just made sense.

"No one stays in just their community anymore," Melinder said.

She said about 100 people attended Thursday's multichamber luncheon, which included a presentation from guest speaker Phil Ponce from WTTW.

"It brings a large number of businesses in one place to allow both the business people and the public to get a feel for the wide variety of businesses we have," Melinder said.
