Who: Woodridge high school seniors

How much: $500

Where to apply: Applications are available in the guidance offices of the local high schools. Please send your application and transcripts to the Woodridge Junior Woman's Club Scholarship Committee, P.O.Box 5221, Woodridge, IL 60517

More info: The student have had a C average or better through high school, been involved in community service and have activities experience which is service-oriented.

Who: High school seniors who will attend college, trade or technical school in the fall.

How much: Two $2,000 scholarships

Deadline: Tuesday, April 5

More info: Woodridge residents and non-residents served primarily by the Rotary Club of Woodridge can apply. The "Self Above Self" scholarship program is awarded to students heavily involved in volunteerism in the community. Students must have a C grade average or better to be eligible. Where to apply: Applications are available online at www.woodridgerotary.org, at the Woodridge Public Library, or at the guidance counselor’s offices at North and South High Schools, Benet Academy and Montini Catholic High School.

Jim Stewart VFW Memorial Scholarship

Who: High school seniors who will pursue higher education

How much: A maximum of two $1,000 scholarships, one to a Downers Grove North senior and one to a Downers Grove South senior

Deadline: April 30

Where to apply: Contact Larry Gervais at 630-810-0143, sue1908@aol.com or leave a message on the Post answering machine at 630-910-1578.

More info: The applicant must be the descendent of a veteran eligible for membership into the VFW. However, the veteran does not need to be a member of a VFW Post. The scholarship honors former Post Commander Jim Stewart, an Iraq war veteran who died of pancreatic cancer in 1999.
