2. Final District 68 band concert 

The elementary and junior high school bands will hold their final concert of the school year at 7 p.m. at Compass Church in Naperville. Good luck! 

3. Midnight showings for The Hangover II 

Can't wait for the weekend to check out the second installment of the famous bachelor party comedy franchise? Catch the movie tonight at at 11:55 p.m., at at 12:01 a.m. or at at 12:01 a.m. 

4. Splash pad set to open June 4 

The splash pad at is tentatively set to open on June 4, following repairs.  According to a Park District e-mail, "the park experienced a power outage that resulted in a sump pump system failure causing the underground vault housing the filtration system to flood."

This has been fixed, and a slip-resistant coating has also been added to the concrete surface to prevent falls. 

5. Paleontologist Dr. Neil Shubin to Visit North High School

Shubin will be at North from 2:30 to 3:30 p.m. The event is open to the public. 

He will discuss his book "Your Inner Fish" and how animals have changed throughout history. Dr. Shubin was one of the discoverers of the famous fossil, Tiktaalik.

Dr. Shubin is the department chair for Evolutionary Biology at the University of Chicago and a provost for the Field Museum in Chicago.
