Tom and Eddie's: Bites Nearby

This is NOT your average burger joint.

Foodies, sit up and take notice!

Tom and Eddie's recently opened in Yorktown Mall in Lombard, and it offers more than what you might expect.

Of course, the first reaction one might have is, “Why another burger place?” The answer is simple: The owners are two guys who know what they’re doing.

Owners Ed Rensi and Tom Dentice are former McDonald’s executives and have brought their expertise, attention to detail and abundant passion to their joint endeavor.

The restaurant opened on a strong foundation of research. In developing their business model, they gathered input from other successful CEOs to create a first-class customer experience.

Tom and Eddie’s provides a modern yet comfortable and casual atmosphere with fun, original décor and a cozy seating area near a fireplace.

Focus on diet and good nutrition isn’t usually the first thing that comes to mind when talking burgers, and yet that concept is exactly what Rensi and Dentice strive for. They consulted chefs to create signature gourmet burgers and focused on obtaining sources of high-quality ingredients.

In a world increasingly aware of the benefits of eating organically, Tom and Eddie’s makes that same effort. Beef is certified humane, which means the animal wasn't given hormones or antibiotics, was fed a vegetarian diet and lived in a more natural habitat.

Healthy menu alternatives to beef burgers include sushi-grade Ahi tuna, turkey and edamame burgers. Eggs, potatoes, ketchup, milk—they’re all organic too. Customers watching their refined sugar intake can enjoy Boylan natural sodas, which use pure cane sugar instead of high-fructose corn syrup.

Rensi said he and Dentice wanted to offer healthier choices, especially for parents who are more concerned than ever about their children’s nutrition.

“We felt a responsibility to healthy children is more important than making money,” said Rensi, who is also a grandfather.

The restaurant also offers opportunities for school fundraisers. Supporting education is important to Rensi and Dentice.
