Weekend 5: Columbus Day Activities

Looking for something to do this weekend? Five events you can check out in the area.

For the bargain-hunter:

1. Warehouse Sale (Woodridge, Friday and Saturday)

Check out a fall warehouse sale hosted by several local businesses Friday and Saturday at the warehouse facility of Danze and Gerber Plumbing Fixtures at 2500 Internationale Parkway in Woodridge. The sale will last from 9 a.m. to 6 p.m. both days.

  • Gerber Plumbing Fixtures – Toilets, bath faucets, bathroom sinks and more
  • Mark Shale – Men’s and women’s apparel, denim and accessories
  • Thomasville – Furniture for the living room, bedroom, dining room and more
  • TAG – Home décor, accessories, holiday items and more

Take a free proctored practice ACT test and Kaplan Test Prep and Admissions will return your scores with analyzed results. Register online or telephone 630-964-7899.  Check-in and seating starts at 9:45 a.m. Test starts promptly at 10 a.m.

For the community member/golfer:

3. Chuck Ceja Classic Charity Golf Outing (Woodridge, Saturday)

The event will take place on at .  Registration starts at 8:45 with a 10 a.m. shotgun start. Some sort of donation or $125 to golf is asked of those who attend. The $125 payment includes green fees, cart, lunch, beer and dinner.

For the family:

4. Danada Fall Festival (Wheaton, Sunday)

The Forest Preserve District of DuPage County’s Danada Equestrian Center will host its annual Danada Fall Festival.

Attendees will be able to take hayrides through the woods, watch a farrier make horseshoes, tour the Kentucky-style barn that has housed a Kentucky Derby winner. Children will be able to decorate paper hobbyhorses, play in the straw pen, paint pumpkins, climb up a tall oak tree get their faces painted.
