Back-to-School Fundraiser for Metropolitan Family Services

The Woodridge Rotary Club will hold a back

to school picnic and fundraiser to benefit Metropolitan Family Services DuPage
on Sunday, August 10th from 1- 4 PM at Shanahan’s Restaurant in

Woodridge. The family event will include activities such as face-painting and

balloon-sculpting. Food will include hot dogs and hamburgers grilled by Rotary
members, chips and beverage for a donation of $20 per family or $5 for an
individual.

This fundraiser is in memory of Julie Burke, longtime Woodridge Rotary Club member who passed away recently.  She was an advocate for children in general and an advocate for Metropolitan Family Services Dupage in particular.  She especially supported Metro Mentors, Parents as Teachers and Head Start which are three programs that serve children from low-income homes. The fundraiser will provide children a lunchbox containing gift cards for purchasing back-to-school supplies, shoes, and clothing. Donations to sponsor Metropolitan client families are being accepted. Checks should be made out to Woodridge Rotary Club and can be sent to P.O. Box 5566, Woodridge 60517. Please indicate "school project" on the check. “We want every child to have a positive educational experience when they go back to school in the fall, and we believe this will help,” stated Katy Rush, President of the Woodridge Rotary Club.

The Woodridge Rotary Club celebrated its 25th Anniversary in May of this year.  Its mission is “to provide service to others, promote integrity and advance world understanding, goodwill and peace through a fellowship of business, professional, and community leaders.”
