Woodridge Rotary Club Recycling Extravaganza

Help Us to Help the Environment… The Woodridge Rotary Club in partnership with many community organizations will hold its second annual recycling extravaganza on Saturday, May 14, from 8:00 am until 12:00 pm at Cypress Cove Family Aquatic Park, 8301 Janes Ave., Woodridge. The Woodridge Rotary Club is proud to partner with
several organizations that work to keep reusable or unsafe materials out of landfills.

The following will be collected: electronics, bicycles in any condition, large batteries with lead in them (car, sump pump, motorcycle), eyeglasses, keys, scrap metal, small cribs and other usable furniture, worn American Flags (for the Woodridge VFW), buttons
from clothes, outdated fire extinguishers, personal documents to shred (3 boxes or bags per car), ink jet cartridges, and cell phones. This year, we have added an opportunity to recycle old propane and oxygen tanks.

Please Note: This collection DOES NOT include the typical lithium or alkaline batteries or any type of hazardous waste.

In addition to collecting the listed items, there will be 55-gallon rain barrels for sale by the Woodridge Park District. Pre-orders will be accepted through Wednesday, May 11. Limited numbers of rain barrels will be available for sale on May 14. For more information, visit the Community Center to view a sample rain barrel or visit the park district website to download an order form. www.woodridgeparks.org

Thanks to our many partners in this effort: Working Bikes Cooperative, Sharing Connections, Buttons for Ethopia, Neil’s Hauling, Aurora Tri-State Fire Protection Company, SCARCE, the Woodridge VFW, the Woodridge Jaycees, the Woodridge Park
District and the Woodridge Lions Club.

At each of our events, Rotary members accept cash donations to help the fight to eradicate polio internationally. Rotary International has been involved in this service project since the 1980’s, and we are currently raising funds in a matching grant effort with the Gates Foundation. For more information about the Recycling event and all the organizations involved visit the Woodridge Rotary website at www.woodridgerotary.org

Rotary is an international service organization that celebrated its 106th year this year. The Woodridge Rotary Club celebrated its 20th year of service to the community in 2009.
