kicked off its "fall classic series" by bringing Jaws back to the big screen Thursday. The theater on Route 53 in Woodridge had showings at 2 p.m. and 7 p.m. Originally released in 1975, Jaws came to Blu-rayTM for the first time just nine days before Thursday's showing.
The re-mastering of the movie, which was ranked one of the American Film Institute’s 100 Greatest Movies of All Time, is part of Universal's 100th anniversary celebration.
"'Jaws' is one of the most influential pictures in Hollywood history and changed the landscape of how movies are released,” said James Meredith, VP of Marketing & Communications for Cinemark in a media announcement about Jaws coming back to Cinemark theaters. “With this incredible restoration, fans now have the opportunity to see one of Hollywood’s legendary films in crystal clear digital projection and incredible surround sound."
