Snow Removal - Not So Much

The foot prints clearly show that folks are walking despite the weather.  Unfortunately this section of sidewalk along Seven Bridges drive was neglected by the responsible party.

I've always wondered if you HAVE to clear your sidewalks. We always do but the neighbors on either side of us don't. What's the rule?

I emailed Chief Grady of Woodridge and she indicates that the Village has no ordinance requiring snow removal. The only thing you can't do is dump your snow on a public street or public way. The best way to get our neighbors to do the right thing is, apparently, to ask.

make a pact with your neighbors and take turns. Remember that should ANYONE fall in your yard (yes that means your sidewalk) you are responsible. They can even sue you! Think about that when you decide not to shovel your sidewalk.
