Man Charged with Two Counts of Car Damage

Downers Grove man was arrested Friday; two others were arrested May 17.

A Downers Grove man was charged early Friday after police said he attempted to smash the windows of two cars parked in the 7000 block of Rhodes Court. 

Jake Wennerstrom, 20, from the 1100 block of 59th Street in Downers Grove, was arrested around 4 a.m. and charged with two counts of criminal damage to a vehicle.

While he attempted to smash the windows, he was not successful, police said. He also allegedly took items from an unlocked car but the owner has not yet come forward, so he has not been charged with burglary to a motor vehicle.

Wennerstrom is the third man charged in relation to car damage or burglaries in Woodridge.

Hung Diep, 28, from the 1000 block of College Avenue in Wheaton, and Christopher Brooks, 18, from the 7700 block of Woodward Avenue, were arrested May 17. Diep was charged with burglary to a motor vehicle and Brooks was charged with criminal trespass to a vehicle.

Police said the pair was observed going into unlocked vehicles near the intersection of 83rd Street and Piers Drive.

It has not been reported by the  whether any of the arrests were connected to any previously reported incidents.
