Darien-Woodridge fire paramedics performed advanced life-support on the boy while taking him to the hospital, according to a release.

Updated:  5:39 p.m. Monday

A teenage boy from unincorporated Downers Grove sustained serious injuries when he became trapped under a car while riding his bicycle near Beller and Lemont roads in Darien around 4:56 p.m. Sunday,  officials said.

Fire personnel had to extract the boy by lifting the car off his lower body with two high-pressure air bags placed under the front passenger side, according to a Darien-Woodridge release.

Paramedics performed advanced life-support on the unconscious teenager while taking him to the Level 1 Trauma Center at Advocate Good-Samaritan Hospital in Downers Grove, the release said. Darien police said the boy, who is 14 or 15 years old according to various reports, was later airlifted to Christ Hospital in Oak Lawn.

No further information is being released about the boy’s condition.

Timothy J. Hagan, 40, of the 3000 block of Drover Lane in Darien, was turning right onto Lemont from Beller when his car struck the boy, Darien police said. The boy was crossing Beller using the crosswalk.

Hagan told officers that he didn’t see the boy, police said. He was given a ticket for failure to yield to a pedestrian in a crosswalk.

This isn’t the first time Hagan’s had contact with area police in the past year.

In May, the Will County State’s Attorney's Office charged Hagan with after authorities said he had a sexual relationship with a 17-year-old Lockport High School student in 2009. Hagan was an IT worker at the school at the time of the alleged affair.

Hagan to the charges during his arraignment in June. His is set for May 16.

After Sunday’s accident, police closed the intersection at Lemont and Beller for more than three hours while the FIAT reconstruction team examined the scene. The investigation into the accident is ongoing.
