Dave Savini Case Could be Resolved Today

Dave Savini is expected to make an appearance today in a DuPage County court.

There could be a resolution Tuesday in the case against CBS 2 reporter Dave Savini who is accused of drunken driving and causing a minor traffic accident in a Taco Bell parking lot and then shoving another motorist who tried to photograph his license plate, according to the Chicago Tribune.

Savini of Naperville was charged with misdemeanor battery, DUI and endangering the life of a child after a traffic accident in Naperville, the Daily Herald reported.

During a hearing on Monday, a DuPage County judge ruled that no photographer would be allowed inside the courtroom on Tuesday since the cameras would be disruptive "given the high volume of cases normally heard in Konetski’s courtroom," according to the Chicago Tribune.

Following the accident in the Taco Bell lot at 12:21 a.m. on Jan. 4., The Naperville Sun reported that Savini was pulled over a short time later near Saratoga and Plainfield-Naperville roads. Police said he had two children in his car.

Savini has worked for CBS 2 since July 2004. In 2008, Savini won the Alfred I duPont-Columbia University Award for his reporting on holes in security at O'Hare International Airport.

Savini's page on the CBS 2 website states that he has won 12 local Emmy awards and 29 Associate Press awards.
