Two children were found in a bedroom of the apartment and brought to safety. Those children were then taken to an area hospital for smoke inhalation.

Jim French, bureau chief for the Lisle-Woodridge Fire Department, said it was unknown whether anyone else was home at the time of the fire.

The apartment's sprinkling system prevented the fire from spreading to any other apartment unit.

The apartment was deemed to be uninhabitable.
