Teen Viciously Beats Roommate During Squabble Over Bills: Cops

The teen surrendered out on the west side after the cops called his mom, police said.

A Plainfield teen stiffed his roommate out of the rent money and then unleashed a savage beating when his buddy had the temerity to complain, police said.

Jeremy Brown, 19, of 24264 W. Cropland,  was charged with aggravated domestic battery in connection with the 1:20 a.m. Monday incident at a home in the 400 block of May Street in Joliet.

Officers called to the residence found Brown's beaten roommate, police said. The man had "severe facial swelling," a broken nose and lacerations, police said.

The roommate reportedly told police he had argued with Brown about his failure to pay the utility bills and his rent. Brown then knocked the roommate around and fled before the law arrived, police said.

The roommate was taken to Presence St. Joseph Medical Center. Brown's mother orchestrated her son's surrender about 3:30 a.m. at the intersection of Route 6 and Ridge Road after the cops called her, police said.
