Kids Find Human Bones in Woodridge Forest

The remains were discovered on Saturday afternoon near Ide's Grove East Park; police are investigating their origin.

Two children walking in a wooded area near the 7900 block of Lemont Road in Woodridge on Saturday around 1:30 p.m. discovered skeletal human remains, launching a major investigation, the Chicago Tribune reports.

According to the paper, teeth were found and a dental examination was scheduled for Monday; a forensic “bone specialist” is also being consulted.

“We have no leads as to who this is,” DuPage County Coroner Richard A. Jorgensen told the paper, adding that investigators do not know the gender of the person or the cause or manner of death, and declined to give any more information as to the parts of the body found.

Downers Grove police confirmed to Patch in an e-mail that the Woodridge Police Department was handling the investigation; according to the paper, the DuPage County Sheriff’s Office Forensic Unit and the Felony Investigative Assistance Team are also involved.

The wooded area is northeast of Ide's Grove East Park and south of the shopping center at the corner of 75th Street and Lemont Road.

"police are investigating as to their origin" would be better as simply "police are investigating their origin." Take out the words that add no meaning.

Fair point.

I hope they find out the identity of the bones because some family out there can now have closure.

There was a young woman that has been missing from Woodridge for several years and I don't know if she has ever been found. That is who I immediately thought about when reading this article. Regardless, I hope they find out who the remains belong to so it brings closure to some family and they can be put to rest.

All the ladies call me a "bone specialist."

I wonder if anyone played the skeletal remains like a xylophone.

A friend of mine went missing 6 yrs ago he was from lisle. we think foul play was involved... I thought of him right away. It would be nice to close the door on this mystery....

I was thinking the same thing, but it's highly doubtful.

Personally, I would hope it's Stacey so she can have her day in court while that "skunk" husband of her's was still alive. Speaking from the grave, so to speak. But, whomever it is, I wish their family some peace, now. Bless them....
