Lisle-Woodridge Fire District's Fire Prevention Week

The theme for this year's fire prevention week is "Protect Your Family from Fire." The week includes an awards ceremony and silent parade.

The will host Fire Prevention Week through Oct. 15. The National Fire Protection Association theme for 2011 is “Protect Your Family From Fire."  

The best way to protect yourself and your family is to have an escape plan and practice fire drills in your home, according to a fire district release.

The fire district will be hosting an Annual Fire Prevention Week Awards Ceremony on Thursday at our Station 1 Headquarters, located at 1005 School Street in Lisle. The event will begin at 6:30 p.m. Awards will be issued to civilians and fire service personnel and the event will culminate with the coveted Firefighter of the Year Award.

The fire district will also participate in a Silent Parade on Friday, which will travel west on Maple through Lisle at approximately 6:30 p.m. and finish at Trinity Lutheran Church, located at 1101 Kimberly Way in Lisle. At the end of the parade, a short service will be held. This event is open to the public and will pay tribute to those who have lost their lives in the line of duty.

The fire district will also open their fire stations to the public for tours and apparatus viewing from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. on Saturday. Everyone is encouraged to stop in and meet the men and women who protect them.
