Man Arrested for Solicitation in Downers Grove

A Woodridge man was arrested Sept. 27 and charged with soliciting without a permit after police say he was distributing fliers and business information for a home repair company.

Marco Rup, 29 of Woodridge, was arrested and charged on Sept. 27 for soliciting without a permit—a village ordinance, Downers Grove police said.

Rup, along with another male, were spotted by officers near Saratoga and Lincoln Avenues in Downers Grove distributing fliers and business information for a home repair company. When asked by officers, Rup and the other individual stated they didn't have the necessary permits.

When asked for identification, both males advised they didn't have any on them, and Rup gave the officers a wrong birthdate. When the officers ran Rup's information and located a drivers license with a different birthdate, they asked Rup why he was giving officers wrong information he said he didn't know. Rup was handcuffed and transported to DGPD.
