Man Flees Store with Bottle of Vodka

An item from the Downers Grove police blotter.

Timothy A. Human, 19, of Woodridge was charged with retail theft after allegedly taking a bottle of vodka valued at $36.43 from Dominick’s, 42 Ogden Ave., at 9 p.m. June 30.

Police were called by store manager, who told police Human allegedly had taken a bottle from the shelf and walked out of the store. The manager attempted to stop Human, but he got in a car and left the parking lot.

After being provided with a license plate number for a car registered to an address in the 400 block of Rogers Street, police went to the residence until the car drove up with Human as a passenger.

When questioned, Human told police he had been at the Dominick’s store and said, “I took something from the store.” An officer saw a bottle of vodka on the floor of the car between Human’s feet. After the store confirmed it would file a complaint, Human was handcuffed and taken to the station.
