A DuPage County grand jury indicted Webb on Tuesday on two counts of theft and is being sought on a $250,000 bail arrest warrant.

According to Paul Darrah, communications manager for the DuPage County State's Attorney's Office, Webb allegedly had access to fund-raisers organized by the Woodridge Police Association.

Money raised from those events was given to the Illinois chapter of Concerns of Police Survivors. The organization hosts support meetings and organizes retreats and camps for kids, teens and spouses of those who have died.

C.O.P.S. also sends families to National Police Week in Washington D.C., to see their loved one honored and put on the National Law Enforcement Memorial.

Darrah said the thefts occurred between June 2007 and August 2010, totaling $30,000.

Below is the full statement released by the village:

"This week, a former Woodridge police officer was indicted and charged with felony theft for his alleged role in a scheme to misdirect donations to a charity that raised funds to support family members, friends and colleagues of police officers killed in the line of duty.

"It is indeed a sad day when any member of the law enforcement community is charged with crimes against organizations that aim to provide aid and comfort to families of heroes who have paid the ultimate sacrifice.  We are disappointed that families of fallen officers, and our community, have been victimized by alleged wrongdoing.  That’s why we vigorously support efforts to prosecute the former officer for his alleged crimes.

"Clearly, there is no room in this department for any officer who engages in criminal conduct. In early March while under investigation, Webb submitted, and we accepted, his resignation from the Woodridge Police Department. We will continue to assist the DuPage County State’s Attorney’s Office.

"When we learned of potential wrongdoing by Scott Webb in August 2010, we immediately placed him on administrative leave and launched an internal investigation.  We also notified the DuPage County State’s Attorney’s Office and pledged our ongoing assistance.

Webb is not in custody, and we are asking anyone with information of Webb's whereabouts to contact the DuPage County State's Attorney Office at 630-407-8000 or the Woodridge Police Department at 630-719-4740. "
