More Car Burglaries Reported, This Time in Darien

Five car burglaries were reported in Darien near that time,

Ten other incidents of car burglaries or car damage have been reported in Woodridge in the past month. You can see the locations of all of these incidents on this map.

No charges have been filed in relation to any of the Woodridge incidents.

The incidents reported in Darien: 

  •  Wednesday, May 11: A wallet and an iPod cable were taken from a car parked on the 600 block of 71st Street sometime between 10 p.m. May 10 and 6 a.m. May 11, police said. The car's windows were open slightly, but it’s unclear whether the car was locked, according to the report. The items were worth about $70. 
  • Friday, May 13: A burglar shattered the passenger side window of a car parked in the Darien Sportsplex lot sometime between 11:50 a.m. and 12:30 p.m., police said. A backpack with workout clothes, shoes and an MP3 player was taken from the car, according to the report. The items were worth about $350. 
  • Saturday, May 14:A Garmin GPS unit and prescription sunglasses were taken sometime between 9 p.m. Friday and 8 a.m. Saturday from an unlocked minivan parked on the 500 block of 72nd Street, police said. The items were worth about $500.
  • Sunday, May 15: A GPS unit was stolen from the glove box of an unlocked car parked on the 600 block of Chestnut between 5 p.m. Saturday and 10 a.m. Sunday, police said. The GPS was valued at about $150.
  • Sunday, May 15: A set of women’s golf clubs and a black briefcase were reported stolen between 8 p.m. Saturday and 11:30 a.m. Sunday from a car parked on the 6900 block of Richmond, police said. It is not known whether the car was locked or unlocked when roughly $700 worth of goods were taken, according to the report.
