Accused Killer Granny’s Psychiatric Evaluation Needs More Time
Alfreda Giedrojc charged with the first-degree murder of her infant granddaughter in October 2013 appeared in court on Tuesday morning.
Alfreda Giedrojc, 62, the Oak Lawn grandmother charged with first-degree murder of her infant granddaughter from Bolingbrook needs more time for her psychiatric evaluation.
In January, the grandmother’s psychiatric evaluation was delayed because the paperwork got lost.
Cook County Judge Colleen Hyland granted a second extension last month. The grandmother’s public defender, Michael Wilson, told the judge he has given psychiatrists a list of people that he wants to be interviewed.

Wilson has expressed his “bonafide doubt” about Giedrojc’s sanity when he made first made the request that she be evaluated for her mental competency last December.
The report is due on May 28, when Giedrojc is scheduled for another court hearing, the SouthtownStar reported.

Judge Hyland also allowed Giedrojc’s videotaped statement that she made to Oak Lawn Police the day of her arrest in October 2013 to be translated into Polish, Southtown-Star said. Giedrojc has a Polish interpreter with her for court hearings and jailhouse meetings with her attorney.
The child would have turned a year old this month.
Giedrojc is being held in Cook County Jail without bond.
