Fire Alarm Fanatic

Someone intentionally pulled a fire alarm on three separate incidents, causing false activations at Hinsdale Hospital on the 100 block of North County Line Road. The incidents took place between 4:28 a.m. and 5:38 a.m. Sept. 20 and 9:41 a.m. Sept. 22, according to police. A case is pending and complaints will be signed.

Ride, Then Run

Someone took a cab from Chicago to Hinsdale, then fled without paying for the $58 fare. The incident occurred at 2:04 a.m. Sept. 22 at Princeton and Woodside, according to police. A case is pending.

BATAVIA

Bogus Blood

Batavia police were called last week to the 900 block of Batavia Avenue when workers arrived and found blood on the floor. The reporting officer contacted the building owner who advised that the building is being used to film a horror movie. “Blood is fake,” the report said.

Extortion Scam? Enough!

According to a report filed at 9:21 a.m. Sept. 19, a woman reported to police that she received a phone call from a man who said he was from the U.S. Drug Enforcement Administration, or DEA, in Washington, D.C. and had information that the victim had purchased Xanax via the Internet. He told her the purchase was illegal, according to police.

When the offender was asked for the IP address of the order, she hung up. Police recovered the phone number from caller ID and spoke to the offender, who said he did not have a warrant for the victim and hung up. Washington, D.C. DEA later advised Batavia police that they are aware of the impersonator and are tracking him.

Of All the Things to Steal…

Jacob Legear, 20, of the 400 block of Macon in Romeoville, as well as a 17-year-old male juvenile, were charged Sept. 8 with retail theft. Police said they stole bedding from a store on the 1000 block of West 75th Street.

GENEVA

iPhone Imposter

Someone took an iPhone 5 from an employee of a business on the first block of West State Street, Geneva police said. The incident occurred sometime between 2:30 p.m. and 3:30 p.m. Sept. 22. The owner told police she left the phone sitting on the front counter of the store and when she returned to look at it found that it had been replaced with an iPhone replica, sitting in the same spot the iPhone was located. The replica iPhone was placed into evidence. The stolen iPhone was valued at $200.
