Here's a round-up of recent, bizarre police report items from the area.

BURR RIDGE

No Grabbing the Help

Kenneth C. Norkus, 62, of the 15W600 block of 82nd Street, Burr Ridge, was charged with battery after grabbing the shoulder of a hot tub repair person, according to police. He was arrested at 5:10 p.m. Aug. 2, processed and released after posting bond.

Please Find the Night Nipper

Someone with the Clarendon Hills Park District at 7:29 a.m. Aug. 8 requested an extra patrol at Prospect Park. The employee said there is a person that drinks in the park overnight between the two ponds, according to police.

Flying Beer Can Alert

A male driver wanted to let police know at 1:59 a.m. Aug. 8 that his van roof was struck by a wet metal object on Route 83 south of 56th Street and north of Knollwood. The object caused a scratch on his roof. The driver just wanted to make sure nobody else hit whatever it was, police said. The officer searched southbound Route 83 from 55th Street to Knollwood and found a dented Busch beer can with fresh beer spilled around it in the area the driver said he was hit.

NAPERVILLE

Golf Cart Drama

An employee became upset with her office manager Aug. 21 for propping the fire door open while she smoked outside in the 4000 block of Idlewild Lane, police said. The employee then stole the wooden door stop her manager used to prop the door open and sped off in the manager's EZ-Go golf cart with it. The employee later gave a police officer a ride on the golf cart to find the door stop in an open field where she threw it.

GENEVA

Firestarter

Someone started a dumpster fire in a large steel construction dumpster near a home under construction in the 700 block of Shady Avenue at an unknown time prior to 10:17 p.m. Aug. 9, reports said. Flames were visible when officers arrived, but the Geneva Fire Department arrived and extinguished the fire. The cost to repair the damage was unavailable at the time the report was filed.

Thirsty Thief

Geneva police arrested Tasha Johnson, 27, of Montgomery on charges of retail theft at around 3:38 p.m. Aug. 10 at a store on the 2000 block of South Randall Road, Geneva, reports said. According to the complaint in the 16th District Circuit Court, Johnson “knowingly took” four bottles of liquor valued at $81.96. She has a court date of Sept. 17 at the Kane County Branch Court, 530 S. Randall Road.

Smashing Way to Court

Geneva police arrested Benjamin Humm, 26, of Elburn on charges of reckless conduct around 1:54 a.m. Aug. 11 at Old Towne Pub on the 200 block of West State Street, reports said. According to a complaint in the 16th Circuit Court, Humm threw a glass beer bottle out of the outdoor balcony onto the 0-99 block of North Second Street, where it shattered and where multiple bar patrons were standing. He has a court date of Sept. 17 at the Kane County Branch Court, 530 S. Randall Road, St. Charles.


DOWNERS GROVE

Repeat Customer

Andrew D. O'Donnell, 19, of the 3600 block of Creekwood Court, Downers Grove, was charged with criminal trespass to land. O'Donnell was arrested at 1:30 p.m. Aug. 17 after walking into a store on the 1100 block of Ogden Avenue knowing that he was no longer allowed in the business, a police report said. A store manager said O'Donnell continues to return despite being told he isn't allowed on the property. O'Donnell was served with a trespass notification.

O'Donnell would return to the store again the next day at 4:30 p.m. He told police he was arrested the day before.

"I detected a strong odor of alcohol emanating from O'Donnell, and that he had bloodshot and glassy eyes," a police report said. "O'Donnell stated that he had been drinking that day. O'Donnell stated that he had a 'couple of shots.' " Read the full report on this incident.


BATAVIA

Too Many Minutes

A complainant told police that the cashier at the 7-11, 710 E. Fabyan Parkway, accidentally put too many minutes on her cellular phone and the amount could not be reversed, according to a report filed at 9 a.m. Aug. 16. An arrangement was made for the complainant to pay off the additional amount as the minutes were used.

License Plate Collateral

A man told police that license plates were taken off the back of his car by an acquaintance who owed him money. Police contact the offender, who admitted to taking the plates and told police he would return them.


ST. CHARLES

Bunny Feeder Nabbed on Warrant

Roderick Eugene Turner, 40, of the 1800 block of Carnation Court, Aurora, was arrested at 7:49 p.m. Aug. 20 at East Main Street and North 7th Avenue on a Kendall County warrant carrying a $2,500 bail. He was transferred to the custody of the Kendall County Sheriff’s Office.


DARIEN

Will The Thief Fly It at Home?

Someone stole an American flag and flagpole from the front of a residence on the 7900 block of Knottingham. The incident occurred sometime between 10 p.m. July 8 and 10 a.m. July 9, police said.
