One Woman Injured in Woodridge Apartment Fire

The fire was reported around 1 p.m. in the 2500 block of Burr Ridge Ct.

One woman was transported to Edward Hospital in Naperville after a fire broke out in the kitchen of a multi-family unit of a two-story apartment building in Woodridge.

The extent of her injuries is unknown at this time.

An activated fire alarm was reported around 1 p.m. in the unit of the building, which is located in the 2500 block of Burr Ridge Ct.

According to Lisle-Woodridge Fire District Deputy Chief Keith Krestan, the fire started in the kitchen. It was put out shortly after firefighters arrived on the scene.

Other members of the woman's family were in the apartment at the time, but they were able to get out of the apartment without injury.

Krestan said there was moderate damage to the kitchen and smoke damage to the rest of the apartment unit.

The cause of the fire is suspected to be cooking, Krestan said. The incident is still under investigation.

The Lisle-Woodridge, Darien-Woodridge and Downers Grove fire departments responded to the incident, Krestan said.
