Man tries to gain access to police car
A Woodridge man was arrested July 22 after he allegedly attempted to gain access to a police car without police permission.

Trent M. Doval, 22, of the 2800 block of Woodridge Drive, was arrested at 1:54 a.m. and charged with resisting and obstructing an officer, criminal trespass and criminal damage to government.

A vandal used a chalk-like substance on a common hallway door and sprayed black spray paint on all the mailboxes at an apartment complex in the 2500 block of Spring Drive around 9 a.m., police said.
Car burglary
A thief smashed the driver side window of a car and took a briefcase, laptop computer and gym bag between 1 p.m. and 1:30 p.m. in the 6800 block of Route 53, police said.
Liquor stolen
A juvenile from Westmont was arrested around 9:56 p.m. and charged with retail theft after a security agent observed the youth concealing two liquor bottles and then leaving the store without paying for them, police said.

Car burglary
A thief smashed the passenger window of a car and removed a purse containing $30, an iPod and digital camera between 11:30 a.m. and noon in the 8300 block of Janes Avenue, police said.
