Police Blotter: Playground Equipment Burned

Car registration and insurance card stolen, driving under the influence and more in this week's police blotter.

Feb. 8 

Resisting a police officer 

Jason Bell, 30, from the 10 block of Wintergreen Court, was arrested around 7:45 a.m. and charged with resisting a police officer following an incident in the 10 block of Wintergreen Court, police said.

Feb. 7 

Driving under the influence

Jennifer Gans, 29, from the 2100 block of Stave Street in Chicago, was arrested around 1:30 a.m. and charged with driving under the influence of drugs/alcohol, illegal transportation of alcoholic liquor and operating an uninsured motor vehicle, following a traffic stop near the intersection of Woodward Avenue and 63rd Street, police said. 

Playground equipment burned

Someone left burn marks on playground equipment around 9:30 a.m. at Somerset Park, 1267 Somerset Ln., police said. The damage will cost about $400 to repair.

Feb. 6 

Driving under the influence

William Binkert, 31, from the 2700 block of Glenwood Court in Naperville, was arrested around midnight and charged with driving under the influence of alcohol following a traffic stop near the intersection of 75th Street and Greene Road, police said.

Feb. 5

Driving under the influence 

Danielle Bernatowicz, 22, from the 3400 block of Wilkes Drive in Naperville, was arrested around 10:40 p.m. and charged with driving under the influence of alcohol following a traffic stop near the intersection of Hobson Road and Greene Road, police said. 

Feb. 4 

Insurance card, car registration stolen 

Someone entered an unlocked car and removed an insurance card and the car's registration during the overnight hours between Feb. 4 and Feb. 5 in the 7300 block of Woodward Avenue, police said.

Feb. 3 

Armed robbery

A 25-year-old man from Richton Park has been charged with armed robbery after  say he held a person selling refurbished iPhones at gunpoint. 

Laurence Smith, 25, from the 22000 block of Latonia Lane, was arrested around 7:40 p.m. Feb. 3. 

Smith contacted the iPhone seller on Craigslist and the pair arranged to meet for the transaction in the parking lot of Sam's Club, 7300 Woodward, Ave., police said. Instead of paying, Smith held the iPhone seller at gunpoint and took the box of phones, leaving the scene in a car without license plates. 

Smith's car was later found at a Chicago address, where he was apprehended.
