Police: Increased Late-Night Enforcement through Thanksgiving

The Woodridge Police Department will beef up its seat-belt and driving under the influence enforcement between Nov. 14 and 27.

For the next two weeks, the will beef up its late-night enforcement. 

The increased enforcement addressing those not wearing seat belts and those driving under the influence will take place from between Nov. 14 and Nov. 27. 

During the 2010 Thanksgiving holiday, 15 people died in car accidents, according to a police release. Nine of those involved alcohol. More than 700 were injured.

Late-night hours are when motorists are at the greatest risk for alcohol-involved crashes and when safety belt usage is the lowest, the release said. 

If you drink, designate a sober driver.

Starting Jan. 1, 2012, everyone in a car is required to wear a seat belt.
