Police Step Up Patrols After Second Armed Robbery

Woodridge Police are investigation two armed robberies that occurred last week in broad daylight. Offender used knife and gun to rob victims.


Woodridge Police are investigating a second incident in less than a week in which a young man robbed individuals while they were in their vehicles. Both incidents took place during daytime hours and the victims were robbed, but unharmed.

The first incident happened at the Woodridge Jewel at 2317 E. 75th St., around 1 p.m. April 24. The second robbery occurred about a half mile south on Forest Drive at 6 p.m. April 7.

Police said that In both cases, the offender was wearing a hooded sweatshirt and a scarf to obscure his face. He is believed to be around 20 years old and has a thin build.

The suspect used a knife in the first robbery, and in the second it was a gun. In both incidents he did not harm his victims, he wanted their money and cell phones.

Woodridge Police have stepped up patrols and are analyzing evidence. They are actively investigating both robberies.

Surrounding police departments are also lending their assistance in the investigation.
