Eileen posted this comment on the gunshot story:

"jeez, what is going on around here lately? Or are we normally kept in the dark? This, a meth lab in an apartment and a woman having her car still in while in it at Kohl's. These horrific news stores are hitting WAY too close to home. I am starting to feel unsafe in my own town."

Shane Gustafson countered:

"Woodridge is not unsafe, in my opinion. I feel as though Woodridge is one of the safer suburbs around. I'm a student journalist, so I read a lot of news articles from papers in neighboring villages, and compared to them, we have it good here in Woodridge. I'll agree, all of this sudden crime is kind of crazy, but I still feel safe. Check out the Glen Ellyn/Lombard patch and read the crime section. That's pretty crazy!"

In 2011, 92.5 percent of Woodridge residents said they felt safe and secure in their neighborhood. That number was slightly down from 2010 when 96.5 percen of residents said the same.
