National Night Out is a crime and drug prevention event that is sponsored nationally by the National Association of Town Watch and co-sponsored locally by the Woodridge Police Department.  This year marks the thirtieth anniversary of this event, and over 37 million people across the country are expected to participate. National Night Out is designed to:

• Heighten crime and drug prevention awareness.
• Generate support for, and participation in, local anti-crime efforts.
• Strengthen neighborhood spirit and police/community partnerships.
• Send a message to criminals letting them know neighborhoods are organized and fighting back.

This year, National Night Out and the Woodridge Police Department want  to notify and encourage citizens to sign up for Smart911, a free service that allows citizens across the U.S. to create a Safety Profile for their household that includes any information they want 9-1-1 to have in the event of an
emergency. To learn more about Smart911 or to register, please visit https://www.smart911.com/
